Things You Should Know

 

Orange County Parks depends on you to help protect wildlife, vegetation and geologic features. Please do not damage or remove any of these features. Adherence to the following park rules and regulations will help ensure a clean, safe and enjoyable experience for all. We appreciate your patronage.

 

Wilderness areas are characterized by certain inherent dangers. These dangers may include mountain lions, rattlesnakes, poison oak, poisonous insects, extremes in weather, and rugged terrain. Your safety cannot be guaranteed. Stay alert to potential danger!

 

Trails are subject to closure for at least 3 days after rainfall.

 

Orange County Codified Ordinances are enforced in all facilities.

 

Visitors are responsible for knowing and complying with all Orange County Ordinances and Regulations.

 

 

Things You Should Know About Day Use Shelters

 
  • Day use shelters are subject to reservation, but may be available on a first come first serve basis.
 
  • Park visitors cannot rope or section off any part of the park. All rope, string, tape, etc. will be removed by the Park Staff.
 
  • If you are having a vendor come into the park, you will need to obtain a County Property Permit before your event. You may contact the park office or County Property Permits for an approved vendors list. County Property Permits may be reached at 714-834-5707 or www.ocpermits.com.
 
  • Please contact the park you plan to visit for further information.
 

 

Things You Should Know About Camping

 

Each campsite has a BBQ, 2 picnic tables and a ground stove. You may bring your own wood, or buy it from us. Wood may be purchased for $5.00 a bag.

 

The following regulations have been adopted for your safety and enjoyment during your stay in the park. Visitors are responsible for knowing and complying with all Orange County Ordinances and Regulations that apply.

 

 

                         CAMPING REGISTRATION RULES

 
  • Check-In is at 2:00 pm and Check-Out is at 12:00 noon. If your campsite is available, you may check in anytime after 7:00 am.
 
  • A maximum of two campsites per each general registration permitted for individual camping.
 
  • A maximum of eight people per campsite.
 
  • A maximum of two vehicles per site permitted (1st vehicle included, 2nd additional $5.00).
 
  • All campers must re-register before 12:00 pm for additional nights in the same site. This will not be allowed if an advance reservation has already been made by another party on the same site.
 
  • Items left at campsite when fees have not been paid are considered abandoned (after 24 hours); items will be removed and stored until fees are paid.
 
  • No person will be permitted in campgrounds without a valid camping permit.
 
  • Drivers of registered vehicles must show proof of valid driver’s license.
 
  • No person under 18 years of age is permitted in campground unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. (Designated sponsor acceptable for Youth Group Camping.)
 
  • There is a $10.00 fee to switch sites.
 
  • No cash refunds can be given from the Park office.
 
  • We accept cash, check (with a valid driver’s license), and credit card (Visa or Master Card).
 

 

                         STAY LIMIT

 
  • Camping stay is limited to 15 days maximum per month for all Orange County Parks. This also includes all extra vehicles and companions.
    • Example 1: If camping stay is 15 (consecutive or nonconsecutive) days within a calendar month, camper(s) must vacate camping parks for the remainder of that calendar month before re-registering.
    • Example 2: If camping stay falls between two calendar months (e.g.: staying from Sept. 25th to Oct. 10th) a 5 day interim period is required before camper(s) can re-register.
 

 

                         GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

 
  • Red Flag Conditions may occur at any time. There is no guarantee that campfires will be allowed.
 
  • Children must be under adult supervision at all times.
 
  • No unlicensed motor vehicles are allowed including scooters, carts, or dirt bikes.
 
  • Dogs must be kept inside tent, camper or trailer during night time hours and must NEVER be left unattended. Owners of excessively barking dogs will be required to remove the dogs from the park. Dogs are prohibited from Caspers Wilderness Park.
 
  • Ground fires are prohibited. All fires must be contained in the fire rings provided. Fires cannot exceed 3 feet, no tiki torches or luminarias.
 
  • Pallets and construction lumber is prohibited. The burning of materials other than charcoal in the BBQ’s is strictly prohibited.
 
  • Horses are permitted ONLY on the designated trails and are prohibited from entering the campgrounds with the exception of the equestrian camping area. Trails are provided on the perimeter of the campgrounds.
 
  • Tying or hanging anything from trees is prohibited.
 
  • Stay out of creek bed. No building of forts or collecting rocks.
 
  • Tents must be positioned at least 5 feet away from the trails.
 
  • Stay on designated trails.
 
  • The speed limit inside the park is 10 MPH.
 

 

Things You Should Know About Group Camping

 
  • Groups of 17 or more people will need to reserve a group camp site.
 
  • Group sites may be reserved by calling the park office.
 
  • As the group leader, it is your responsibility to make sure that all of your group knows and observes the park rules. Please, help us to protect the wilderness and ensure a safe and happy camping experience for your group and any other groups who may be near your site.
 
  • Your reservation fee is not a deposit toward your camping fees. It is a separate non-refundable reservation fee only.

                         Refund Policy

 

Refund Guidelines for reservation cancellation at Orange County Park Facilities.

 

Same day refunds for Cash, Check and Credit Card are allowed Monday-Friday during Park Office Business Hours 8:00am-3:00pm.

 

Next day refunds for Cash, Check and Credit Card are subject to the following procedures (no exceptions).

 

If you made your reservation on the Web-site and paid Spherix directly by Check or Credit Card, you are to call 1-800-600-1600 and speak directly to Spherix personnel and are subject to their guidelines.

 

If you made your reservation at the park site by Cash, Check, or Credit Card, you are subject to the following guidelines:

 
  1. Request refund in writing, submitted to the Senior/Supervising Park Ranger.
  2. Written request must have the following:
    1. Date you made the reservation.
    2. Date you cancelled the reservation.
    3. Reason for cancellation
    4. Copy of reservation receipt attached
  3. Facility Park Ranger will review and send his/her memo (with customers’ written request) to District Park Supervisor & Operations Manager to approve or deny, based on County Refund Policy.
 
If Approved:
  1. The Cash/Checks are sent to Accounting Services to process. It takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks after they receive the paper work.
  2. The Credit Cards are sent to Special Services. After they receive the paper work it takes 2 to 3 business days to process.
 

We recommend that you pay by Credit Card to process any approved refunds quicker. If you have any questions please call the Park Office number listed on your receipt.

 

Please review the following information on Refunds that are subject to Board Resolution No. 04-130.

 
  1. For Cause: Refunds caused by inclement weather, personal medical or catastrophic emergencies, park closures and administrative oversight.
    1. Inclement weather includes high winds, heavy rain or other weather conditions which make the outdoor park site or amenity unusable for the reserved event or activity; applies only to the outdoor areas and only to the date for which the outdoor site or amenity has been reserved.
    2. Personal medical or catastrophic emergency for permittee or their immediate family; includes serious illness or hospitalization, accident, injury or death. Documentation from appropriate medical professional required for illness, hospitalization, accident or injury.
    3. Facility closures by County resulting from emergency conditions (fire, flooding, and other safety concerns) apply to total closures of the facility only.
    4. Oversight on the part of facility schedulers related to double bookings, scheduling mix-ups, or other problems that preclude the permittee from utilizing the facility or amenity when scheduled.
    5. In all cases listed above, facility Rangers shall make every attempt to reschedule the event prior to recommending a refund.
    6. With the exception of inclement weather, refund requests for medical or catastrophic emergencies, park closures or administrative oversight may be made up to and including one day prior to the scheduled date of the permit or reservation.
    7. The $12.00 permit/reservation processing fee is non-refundable, with the exception of items c and d above.
    8. Requests for refunds must be made in writing and submitted to the park or facility office where the reservation was made. Written refund requests must be made not later than 14 days after the scheduled event.
  2. Without Cause (i.e., reasons as described above): Refunds requested by the permittee without cause shall be subject to certain time constraints and other conditions to allow re-rental or reservation of facility, room or amenity.
    1. Request for refunds must be made in writing and submitted to the park or facility office where the reservation was made.
    2. Processing fees will be deducted from the refund amount as follows:
      1. Non-refundable permit/reservation processing fee $12.00
      2. Refund for Group Use Areas $12.00
      3. Refund for Room Rentals and Outdoor Spaces $100.00
    3. Full refund will be granted if the event is cancelled at least four (4) months prior to the reserved use, less the applicable processing fees.
    4. One-half refund will be granted if the event is cancelled between four (4) months and three (3) months to the day of the event, less the applicable processing fees.
    5. No refunds will be granted it the event is cancelled less than three (3) months to the day of the event.
    6. No partial refunds for reduced hours of usage. Refunds will be granted for complete cancellations only.
    7. Contracted Programs Only: Refunds must be made in writing and received in the facility office no later than eight (8) days prior to the start of the program.

 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation or changes to an online Reservation must be made by calling the Orange County Reservation Center at 1-800-600-1600(Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. PST).
  • Campsites :

Cancellation/Transfer Policy: Any cancellations made up to 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date will result in the loss of the $12 processing fee plus an additional $10 cancellation fee. Any cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the date of arrival will result in no refund. For changes or cancellations, please call the reservation center at 1-800-600-1600. For cancellations made on or after your scheduled arrival date, you must contact the park directly. For cancellations to a reservation paid by credit card, you will be required to verify the card number.

  • Picnic Shelters :
